Memorial to Enslaved Laborers at University of Virginia — Video Dispatch

by Editor / Friday, June 06 2025 / Published in Dispatches from the Road

On his recent visit to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, Clay visited the Memorial to Enslaved Laborers on campus. Dedicated in 2021, the memorial honors the estimated 4,000 enslaved people who worked at the university from 1817 to 1865 — essential to building the Academical Village, Rotunda, and other structures.
